Building Events
For every house we build we have a Groundbreaking or Blessing of the Foundation Ceremony to get the house underway. At the end of the build we have a ceremony that involves the families entering their brand new home for the first time, known as our House Dedication.
House Dedication Ceremony
At the end of each build project, a house dedication occurs. Faith leaders representing the family are invited to bless the home, and those who contributed to the build are welcome to see the finished project. This event marks the official presentation of the property to the Partner Families and is often met with many emotions.
Blessing of the Foundation 2011
2011 will be the busiest year of Habitat for Humanity Wellington County. However, this means building homes for more deserving families and commemorating these builds with more events like Blessing of the Foundation. We'll keep you updated with the latest news regarding these events as they come about.
The Blessing of the Foundation Ceremony is symbolic of Habitat's Christian beginnings. The ceremony is a welcoming, non-denominational service to kick off building.
Skills Week 2011
Skills Week 2011 is TBD
From June 21st to 25th, 2010, a Skill-building Week to help promote and prepare members of our
Women Build. The week also consisted of many celebrity guests, such as Scott McGillivray and Mag Ruffman. The Friday of our skills week featured a BBQ blowout with burgers donated from Cargill, and a performance from the band Corduroy Slide.
Skills workshops are planned to become a regular staple in the future. Volunteers are encouraged to attend in order to brush up on skills before hitting the build site.
Groundbreaking 2011
GroundBreakings like Blessings of the Foundations are truly motivational events that help our organization and volunteers gear up for the building season. We'll have more Groundbreakings in 2011 than any other year. Come back soon for updates regarding Groundbreakings for Women Build, Corporate Builds and Faith Build
The groundbreaking ceremony is a simple ceremony that represents the culmination of planning and the beginning of building. The ceremony usually involves a few words from those involved in the project, followed by a ceremonial breaking of ground with a shovel.
