Family Partnering
People are at the heart of Habitat for Humanity Wellington County (HFHWC). Family partnering addresses the people-to-people relationship between families and Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity homeowners take a big step when they partner. They make a commitment to maintain their home and repay a mortgage; lives are transformed.
Habitat for Humanity plays an important role in determining their success. During the initial orientation, clear expectations are set forth as accountable homeowners, applying a supportive and nurturing environment.
Support
The purpose of the Family Support Committee is to welcome approved families into the HFHWC community and to provide them with a mutual support system, educational opportunities and a forum for discussions regarding homeownership and relevant Habitat policies and procedures. The Family Support Committee becomes the long term primary liaison with the qualified partner families, offering support in the areas of sweat equity requirements, home ownership education, yearly seminars and adjustments to new responsibilities. The Family Support Committee provides encouragement and support to families to connect into their new community/neighbourhood.
